There are a lot of tools out there to make your company more efficient. Optimizations are being done in all fields it seems. Manufacturing, import, sales and the list goes on. However, there is one optimization that impacts all departments. Employee time. By optimizing employee time, you are effectively making sure that your employees are producing more to the hour.

A distinction has to be made here. There is a fine line between employee optimization and employee abuse. Optimization means removing obstacles that your employees encounter. The idea is not to make your employees work more hours. One of the easiest ways to achieve this is to use an employee time clock. This is further divided into two main categories: fingerprint time clock and biometric time clocks.

Fingerprint time clock

The concept couldn’t be clearer here. These allow your employees to access the office by just placing their finger on a sensor. The underlying system then tracks the employee and the time. This information can then be used to calculate the time a person has spent at the office. However this might not give exact data. In some cases, a colleague may open the door for several others.

Biometric time clocks

These systems are very advanced. A camera is used to identify employees entering and leaving the office. This also works in the case where multiple employees enter the premises at the same time. You might want to consider that this system is in no way a replacement for security cameras.
