Always Have Power on Hand

In today’s world, it’s nearly impossible to imagine not having all the power you need. Whether it’s electricity for powering our homes or gasoline for keeping our cars on the road, it’s unfathomable that this kind of life could ever go away. Unfortunately, plenty fo people find that out every year.

Hurricanes, tornadoes and earthquakes are just a few of the natural disaster types that could end up stripping your home or business of its energy source. When that happens, you’ll be glad you have a ground power unit on hand.

Of course, we’re not just talking about electricity and gas either. For diesel needs, a gas turbine start up can work miracles. Others may need something a bit more serious.

We’re also not just talking about natural disasters either. A lot of you should have portable power on hand 24/7 for your business. If you work with large machinery, the last thing you want to do is have one of them stop working because they ran out of juice but are too far away from the power supply. Unless you want to tow that heavy equipment in, it makes a lot more sense to have portable power you can bring to it at a moment’s notice.

Fortunately, in this day and age, we have all the tech necessary to make that happen as conveniently as possible.

The Anatomy of a Space Walker’s Helmet

Summary: If you’ve ever wondered why an astronaut’s helmet has the appearance it does, read on.

Astronauts have some of the coolest looking gear, but all of that gear serves a life saving purpose. Think of the helmet like a self contained bubble, where the astronaut can breathe and function thanks to several systems designed to support life. Even the mirrored visor, manufactured with optical coating systems, is designed with more in mind than just “looking flash.” Read on to get a rundown of the astronaut’s helmet and other gear.

Oxygen and Life Support

A crucial component to any astronaut’s helmet is the ability to breathe, which is directed through what is known as a “vent pad.” These pads help direct oxygen, and pressurize the suit. That’s part of the reason why the helmet resembles a clear-plastic bubble. That is until you apply the mirror visor.

Optics

Using e-beam evaporation, a mirror sheen is applied to the lens of an astronaut’s helmet. Like UV resistant eyewear, this visor is a crucial guard against direct sunlight. Outside of an atmosphere with little to filter the light, long term exposure can be very damaging. The visor’s tint also helps reduce heat buildup in the suit, just like the tinting on the windows of a car. Mirror sheen coatings can reduce the amount of light by up to 50%, which is a huge benefit to the eyes when exposed to direct sunlight long term.

Of course, the visor also serves the very practical purpose of protecting the astronaut’s face from small objects near the face, like tools or garbage.

Bio: Denton Vacuum, LLC manufactures a thermal evaporation system with a wide range of applications in aerospace, medical and other forms of advanced manufacturing.

Productivity Tools For Employees

There are a lot of tools out there to make your company more efficient. Optimizations are being done in all fields it seems. Manufacturing, import, sales and the list goes on. However, there is one optimization that impacts all departments. Employee time. By optimizing employee time, you are effectively making sure that your employees are producing more to the hour.

A distinction has to be made here. There is a fine line between employee optimization and employee abuse. Optimization means removing obstacles that your employees encounter. The idea is not to make your employees work more hours. One of the easiest ways to achieve this is to use an employee time clock. This is further divided into two main categories: fingerprint time clock and biometric time clocks.

Fingerprint time clock

The concept couldn’t be clearer here. These allow your employees to access the office by just placing their finger on a sensor. The underlying system then tracks the employee and the time. This information can then be used to calculate the time a person has spent at the office. However this might not give exact data. In some cases, a colleague may open the door for several others.

Biometric time clocks

These systems are very advanced. A camera is used to identify employees entering and leaving the office. This also works in the case where multiple employees enter the premises at the same time. You might want to consider that this system is in no way a replacement for security cameras.

Allied Time specializes in various time tracking systems including the fingerprint time clock.

Chromecast Review

In 2014, the Chromecast, Google’s media streaming adapter, was the number one selling streaming gadget in the US. This was according to figures gathered by the NPD sales group. According to the report, content were streamed more than 1 billion times since the product was released in July 2013.

Chromecast is an affordable adapter that allows for media streaming and works through any HDMI television. The adapter basically turns the TV in an app-driven smart device when it is paired with a smartphone, computer or tablet. This product is designed to simplify the process of transferring digital content from mobile devices to TV screens.

The Chromecast comes in the form of a small dongle that can be plugged directly to a TV and which detects and connects to Wi-Fi networks. Then one only needs to choose what to watch from a connected device and Chromecast would stream the content and display it on the TV screen. The main product differentiation of Google’s Chromecast is that it does not feature any interface on its own. The product requires requests from connected devices to define what to stream.

Upon its launching, the Chromecast had surprised customers with the relatively low price. The product features a large array of compatible apps and services such as YouTube, Pandora, Netflix, Starz, HBO Go and Showtime. Some other local channels are available depending on the geographical location of the user.

Chromecast is mostly suited for Android and iOS devices, having little compatibility with Windows Phone 8 for example. Windows phone users have the option of the TubeCast app though.
